It is said that Contractors are now facing a wave of new opportunities due to the improved UK market conditions. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s (REC) JobsOutlook for November 2015, illustrates that 79 per cent of businesses consider the UK’s economic conditions to be improving.
This statistic is set to predict a further demand for contractors with an optimistic 91 per cent of organisations expecting static or improved contractor prospects. The report also shows that half of these businesses have initiated rate increases in order to remain competitive.
“Skilled people are at a premium and organisations across the economy are having to pay more to attract and retain staff” stated REC chief executive Kevin Green.
Contractor operating within the engineering and construction sectors can expect a substantial demand in the coming months, as this report states that this sector is where the biggest shortfall lies.
“The statistics show that the contingent workforce can play a pivotal role in the continued growth of the economy. As long as businesses continue to see the potential for further growth, contractors shouldn’t find themselves short of new contract opportunities,” ContractorCalculator CEO Dave Chaplin states.
The report also shows that 98 per cent of businesses expressed satisfaction with contractors and that 88 per cent of clients engages with contractors in order to gain access to specific knowledge. While 56 per cent notes the cost-effectiveness of hiring a contractor.
