IT Contractor roles increased in December 2015, at their fastest growth rate since April 2015. The demand for contractors grew to 61 per cent, which has been the highest figure for 8 months, according to the REC (the recruitment and employment confederation).
Despite the permanent IT sector having a large deficit in their cyber security skills, the contractor market seems to be thriving on this fact. The overall shortage of tech skills among permanent IT professionals has increased, from 8 – 9 per cent, particularly within cyber security skills.
It is said that in the recent cyber security attacks, companies are now investing into their cyber security teams, meaning a larger demand for specialist contractors to be brought in to fill a knowledge gap, and prevent future cyber attacks.
