Surprisingly, contractors were the headline of the Government Conference this week as George Osborne announced that plans are in place for the National Infrastructure Commission.
Rail and road links have been at the forefront for many traveling contractors, and with the recent announcement, it looks like there will be future projects for the contracting and self employed.
“The newly announced National Infrastructure Commission is the right platform to deliver long-term projects. This independent body must make sure successive Governments are committed to delivering world class infrastructure”, stated IPSE, who had called for this prior to the election.
Although this move from the Government does mean more contracts in the future, as these projects will require significant specialist knowledge from the contractor workforce.
Whether the Conservative Party intends to follow through remains to be seen.
