Contractor opportunities are high and confidence is growing in the market, according to the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation). The numbers of contractor clients are looking to transform into a higher number of contracts.
The REC’s Job Outlook for January 2016 shows that four in five businesses are considering the economic conditions to be improving. This, compared with only 15 per cent who believe that conditions may be worsening, although 97 per cent of clients are expecting improved conditions.
A significant finding that 94 per cent of the contractor clients who are operating with limited capacity to take on more work, are expected to look to contractors for business growth with buoyant market conditions.
“Businesses want to hire so that they can take on more work. But with fewer candidates available, employers need to take a thoughtful approach to bring in the skills they need”, the REC Director of policy, Tom Hadley comments.
For the next 3 months it is expected that almost half (48 per cent) of clients plan to engage with more contractors, while 51 per cent plan to maintain their contractor headcounts.
