Contractor growth from cross sector demand is said to be due to traditionally non-digital sectors, investing in more technology to push efficiency. According to Tech Nations 2016 latest study, the technology sector is cited as the driving force behind the UK’s growth in economy.
The research shows that the digital tech economy currently accounts for around 1.56M jobs in the UK, and of those around 41 per cent are operating within non-digital sectors, which is expected to rise.
The cross sector demand has had a significant impact upon the acceleration of the creation of jobs in the digital industry, outpacing the rest of the economy by 280 per cent. Dave Chaplin, CEO of Contractor Calculator comments;
“There’s now a broader scope than ever for IT contractors to source contracts. As more firms in an ever widening range of industries look to enhance their IT operations to boost productivity, dependence on contractors is set to continue to rise”.
